Rutlander accused of sex assault on girl, 13
Vermont State Police said Friday they have arrested a Rutland man and accused him of having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Mitchell H. Bowen Jr., 22, was arrested Oct. 6 and charged with sexual assault, police said.
He and the Fair Haven girl knew each other, police said in a statement Friday. Bowen allegedly met the girl at the recreation complex behind Fair Haven Grade School and they engaged in sexual intercourse.
The incident took place in a baseball dugout on an August weekend afternoon when school was not in session, police said.
Bowen is on probation for unrelated charges, police said.
He is scheduled to appear in Rutland criminal court Nov. 4.
If convicted of sex assault, Bowen could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
